Sun, Sea, And Storybook Castles
Small Private Tours Of Italy For Seniors

Spend a few extra days in Italy and take one of our small private tours just for seniors. There you will trace stories of art, power, and everyday life across this corner of Le Marche.
The Marche region, located along the Adriatic Sea, is truly an undiscovered jewel. It blends seaside charm with cultural richness, imposing castles, and beautiful Renaissance architecture.
Urbino welcomes you first. This Renaissance hilltop town is a masterpiece where dukes, artists, and scholars once shaped a new vision of the world. Wander its brick lanes, step into frescoed chapels, and stand in the very rooms where the Renaissance artist, Raphael, grew up.
From Urbino, we continue to elegant Pesaro. Located on the Adriatic Sea, it has gracious piazzas, Italian Art Nouveau architecture, and seaside promenades that reveal another face of Italy
Your final stop is Gradara, a perfectly preserved fortress town. There you will explore the castle, its ramparts and cobbled streets as daylight softens over the surrounding hills.
Throughout this 3-day extension, you travel at a relaxed pace, with time to soak up museums, the Italian countryside, and cafés rather than rushing from sight to sight. It is an ideal way to deepen your main itinerary without adding stress.
This is not a stand-alone tour. You can extend one of our 7-day or 10-day tours by adding 3 more days in Italy, making it either a 10-day or 13-day tour.
Welcome to your next great adventure!

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 Tour Extension: Sun, Sea, And Storybook Castles:
Tour Renaissance Urbino
Small Private Tours Of Italy For Seniors
After a leisurely breakfast, we leave the rolling hills of Umbria behind and head toward the Marche region and the sparkling Adriatic Sea.
Our first stop is Urbino, a breathtaking hilltop city known for its architectural beauty. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is one of Italy’s most perfectly preserved Renaissance gems. You will feel like you have gone back to the 16th century when you visit Urbino.
Urbino is also the hometown of Raphael, one of the three great masters of the High Renaissance, along with Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.
The Ducal Palace is a castle that towers over Urbino. The palace is a masterpiece of Renaissance design and houses a superb regional art museum: The National Gallery of the Marche.
We will have lunch at a local osteria to try the famous Crescia Sfogliata – a rich, flaky flatbread served with local prosciutto and Casciota di Urbino cheese prior to taking an escorted walking tour of Urbino with one of our favorite local guides.

During the tour, we will stroll through the historic center, explore its winding medieval alleyways and elegant piazzas, and visit the Ducal Palace.
The Ducal Palace was once home to Duke Federico da Montefeltro, who was a very successful and wealthy 15th-century mercenary. His Renaissance palace is vast. You will see grand staircases, artistic masterpieces, and a copy of the Duke’s famed study – the original of which is housed in The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
At the end of the afternoon, we will check into your hotel. It is located in a historic palazzo where you will stay for three nights.
We will then have dinner at a fine restaurant featuring specialties from the Marche region before calling it a day.
Day 2 Tour Add-On: Sun, Sea, And Storybook Castles:
Tour The Seaside Town Of Pesaro
Small Private Tours Of Italy For Seniors

Pesaro is a breathtaking, off-the-beaten-path town in Italy that blends cultural richness with seaside relaxation.
The heart of the city is Piazza del Popolo, set among Renaissance buildings and vibrant cafes. Pesaro is the birthplace of the well-known Italian opera singer Rossini.
The town features extraordinary Liberty-style and Renaissance architecture. Liberty-style is Italy’s take on Art Nouveau – the same era as Paris Metro entrances or Tiffany lamps, but with a distinctly Italian flair.
We will take a short drive to Pesaro to meet our local guide, who was born in Pesaro, for a walking tour and to explore the town.
We will tour the Palazzo Mosca museum, which houses artistic treasures and ceramics associated with Pesaro. In addition, we will make a short stop to see the beautiful 800+-seat Rossini Theater, housed in a magnificent 19th-century building. We will then walk along Pesaro’s incredibly picturesque and tree-lined avenue near the sea.
At the end of our walking tour, you will have lunch at a restaurant with a marvelous view of the sea.
After lunch, you will have time to take a walk in town, along the sea, or do some shopping on your own.
Before returning to Urbino, we will have a late-afternoon aperitivo in Pesaro's main piazza so you can admire more Renaissance architecture.
For dinner tonight, we will go to a special restaurant located just outside of Urbino, which overlooks the old Renaissance town.
Day 3 Tour Add-On: Sun, Sea, And Storybook Castles:
Tour Fortress Walled Town Of Gradara & Wine Tasting
Small Private Tours Of Italy For Seniors
Today, we will visit the legendary walled town of Gradara. This medieval village is home to an imposing 12th-century castle. It is a perfectly preserved medieval fortress surrounded by double city walls.
We will meet our local guide for an escorted walking tour. We will walk along the medieval ramparts, taking in views of the Adriatic and the countryside. You will wander through the narrow, romantic streets of this historic borgo.
After touring the castle, we will go out into the countryside for a light lunch and a wine tasting at one of our favorite wineries. You can sample some of their well-known red and white wines while enjoying lunch.

Afterward, we will return to Urbino, so you can take a final walk through the medieval town to pack before dinner at our favorite restaurant. We will host you for a farewell celebration with cocktails, wine, and a traditional Marche dinner. There you can talk about Italy’s wonders and perhaps even start dreaming of a future trip!
Included: All meals, beverages, local transportation in Italy, airport transfers, accommodations, wine tastings, tour guides, and museum entrance fees.
