Most "small group" tours in Italy still mean 20, 30, and even 40 people traveling by a large bus, moving through a piazza in a single group, herded by a guide who holds up a numbered flag. Everyone is wearing a headset so they can hear the guide's lecture. Because the group is so large, you can’t even ask questions.

We personally hate this way to travel, and we don’t tour this way.

Every Italy Adventures tour is capped at 2–8 travelers, and it's always just your group — we never add any strangers to fill a bus.

That's not a marketing line; it's a structural choice that changes everything about how your day in Italy actually feels: no time waiting around for the last traveler to return, no long bus rides, no competition for the guide's attention, and an itinerary that can genuinely bend a bit to do what you want and see what you want to see.

 

Here's what "private" and "small group" actually mean to us once you arrive in Italy.

What Makes A Tour Truly Private

​

A lot of companies use the word "private" loosely. For us, it means three things.

​

First, your group never merges with another group, ever — not at a hotel, not at a restaurant, not on a day trip. The people you start the tour with are the only people you travel with and no one else.

​

It can be a group of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 travelers. You decide who they are – not us.

​

Second, since it is your group, your itinerary can also change in real time. If your group falls in love with a museum and wants another 45 minutes, we’ll stay.

​

If you are really enjoying an Italian meal and want to take more time to fully savor it (and maybe have a dessert), you can do that too.

​

There's no one at the office dictating that everyone must be back by 3:15 so the group can leave.

​

Third, there's no rigid pace imposed by a large group's slowest or quickest members.  With a tour group of only 2 to 8 people, we can easily accommodate whatever you’d like to do and for how long.

 

This is the difference between touring Italy and experiencing it at your own pace while enjoying a relaxing, totally worry-free vacation.

We Handle All The Logistics So You Don't Have To

 

"We handle the logistics" can mean almost anything, so here's what it concretely means when you take one of our tours:

​

• Driving: A private Italian driver takes you between towns and to every excursion — no rental car navigating narrow medieval streets, no parking stress, no reading Italian road signs at 65 mph. If your flight is delayed, we adjust the pickup time and the day's schedule accordingly; you're never left alone to figure this out in a foreign airport.​​​

• Hotels: We personally vet every hotel, villa, or apartment where travelers stay before it goes into an itinerary — comfortable, well-located, and usually full of local Italian character (many are centuries-old buildings), not generic chain hotels.​​

​​

• Restaurants and dietary needs: We also visit every restaurant before we take any travelers there. We’ll coordinate with the kitchen ahead of time to handle dietary restrictions, allergies, or personal preferences. We will translate the menu for you so you don’t have to worry.​​

 

• Money and logistics: ATMs, currency questions, SIM cards, tipping norms — the small but constant friction points of traveling abroad — we will take care of these for you.​​​​

• A bilingual tour organizer: Your bilingual tour organizer will be with you every day of your trip in Italy. You will not need to worry about any detail, so you can focus on fully enjoying your vacation.
