1. Are Italy borders open for travel? What are the requirements for travel to Italy?
We have some great news to share. For travelers going to Italy, summer trips just go a lot easier. Almost all of the Covid-related restrictions have been lifted. Life and travel to Italy is increasingly turning to normal.
The Italian government has dramatically lessened the requirements for travel to Italy for tourists.
Travelers no longer need to take a Covid-19 test prior to arrival in Italy. Italy has also done away with requiring proof of vaccination to enter restaurants, bars, and other public venues.
Masks are still required to be worn in order to travel on all public transportation, in cinemas and hospitals. You must also still show proof of vaccination in order to enter a hospital.
Tourists have returned to Italy and Italy's borders are fully open for travel.
2. Is Italy safe for American travelers and other travelers from North America?
Yes, it is safe for tourists and visitors alike to travel to and visit Italy.
The risk of Covid-19 is quite low throughout the country. Italy has a very high vaccination rate. Almost 90% of people aged 12 or older in Italy have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
The Italian Ministry of Health classifies the risk of Covid-19 infection into four categories: red, orange, yellow and white.
Red is the highest risk category while white is the lowest risk category.
All of Italy is currently in the lowest risk category of white.
