Experience The Excitement Of Shopping In Italy

Are you a fashionista who has an interest in high Italian fashion? Are you an art lover? Do you have an interest in leather goods or cashmere? Do you have an interest in traditional or modern ceramics or glass? Do you like to seek out specialty Italian foods or Italian wines? Looking for some special jewelry?

Whether you like to shop for yourself or for others, this tour is for you! The Shopping Adventure Tour is a custom shopping opportunity tailored to your particular interests.

You will shop at boutique shops, small family businesses and many places that only the locals know.

We will customize your itinerary to your own personal shopping interests. You’ll also have the personal assistance by a knowledgeable Italian who has lived and shopped in the heart of Italy for decades.

During your visit, you will also enjoy food and wine from an area that was cited in a recent Trip Advisor study as having the best food in all of Italy. You will tour various hill towns for sightseeing as much -- or as little -- as you like.

And best of all, at Italy!Adventures you can create your own private group.

We will reserve your tour solely and exclusively for you and your family, friends or trusted associates. This ensures that your tour is truly a private experience for up to eight people.

Our promise: No other travelers will be added to your tour, even if there are only two people in your group.

There will be plenty of private time for you to do other things as you wish, including luxuriating and relaxing at an Italian spa.

What’s Special About This Tour?

The age-old culture of independent artisan producers is still thriving in Central Italy. This Tour gives you unique opportunities to shop for high-quality handcrafted goods that bear the distinctive design and elegance for which Italy is famous. Most owners of small family-owned shops do not export their goods outside of Italy. At some of our favorite shops, you’ll even be able to observe the goods being produced.

After you book your tour, we will send you a short survey to learn about your individual shopping interests. We will then prepare a tour that is customized for you. You will have access to local Italian shopping experts who have lived and shopped here for decades. They know the shops that most foreigners never find. To make this tour a true shopping adventure, we will toss in some shopping surprises along the way!

The possibilities are endless for an Italy!Adventures Shopping Tour.

Below is just one example of a vast selection of different shopping delights that can be taken with Italy!Adventures.

Typical Itinerary

Saturday – Depart for Italy
Sunday – Day 1 – Arrive in Italy & Travel to Enchanting Spello

Arrive in Rome at Fiumicino airport.

You will be met by an Italian/English-speaking chauffeur who will whisk you away by private car to the spectacular heart of Italy.

Enjoy a stunning view while experiencing your first Italian lunch at a restaurant that features local cheeses and meats, homemade pastas, steaks and slow cooked pork in wine, and more.

Spend the remainder of your afternoon on your own while relaxing at your authentic Italian hotel, lounging by the pool, or shopping in the quaint small town of Spello. We will start our evening early with a small private get-together where you will receive an orientation while sampling wine and heavy appetizers in a genuine 17th century Italian palazzo.

Private driver from Rome Airport, lunch with Italian wine, and a light dinner with drinks and heavy appetizers included.

Monday – Day 2 – Shopping in Central Italy: Umbria & Tuscany

After an early breakfast at your hotel, we will visit two nearby historic towns, one in Umbria and the other in Tuscany. These towns specialize in producing a wide variety of fine artisan goods including jewelry, shoes, artwork, leather, clothing, furniture, antiques, cashmere, ceramics, Italian food products and more.

You will have ample time to shop in both towns. We can also visit a small family furniture factory, if you’re interested. We will have lunch at a small, well-known restaurant with a stunning view of Lake Trasimeno. After shopping, we will return to Spello to freshen-up and then walk five minutes to a family-owned osteria which features a gorgeous view of Assisi and a menu of fresh, seasonal, delicious Italian specialties.

All meals with Italian wine included.

Tuesday – Day 3 – Artisan Fabric Factory Tour, Wine Tasting & Afternoon Spa

After a breakfast buffet at your hotel, you’ll travel to a nearby town where you will tour an artisan, 70-year old family-owned textile factory that specializes in producing fabrics based on ancient as well as modern Umbrian designs. The factory uses a fascinating early fabricated leather “computer” card reader and artisan workers who make scarves, table linens, napkins while using old manual methods of cloth production. You will have an opportunity to see all that they produce and to shop for specialty items. Next, we will have lunch at one of the oldest family-owned wineries in the region. You will enjoy the many cheeses, meats, vegetables, honey, and of course, wine produced on their farm.

After a leisurely lunch, we will drive to Assisi. There, you can either shop at the wide variety of artisan shops in this ancient, UNESCO World Heritage town.

Or, you can take a break at a local spa built on top of ancient Roman baths. At the spa, you’ll have time to indulge, relax, recuperate and spend some magical time while enjoying an aperitif before we depart.

We will then return to Spello in early evening. If you are still hungry, you can go out for dinner at our expense, at one of over 40 local restaurants.

Or, for a lighter choice, you can order appetizers and wine at our expense and enjoy the view from your room’s terrace.

All meals with Italian wine and basic spa visit are included.

Wednesday – Day 4 – Outlet Shopping, Lunch On The Sea & Wine Tasting

After breakfast we will drive east toward the Adriatic Sea. We will visit a region little-known by foreigners, a region that is actually the largest producer of shoes in all of Italy.

There are over 2,200 companies making shoes in this area.

We will visit several outlet stores including some which are located right next door to the factory where their goods are made.

We will take a break from shopping to have lunch on the sea at a restaurant where the menu changes daily depending upon what fresh seafood is available. Later, we will return to Spello where you will have some quiet time at your hotel.

We will then walk to a wine tasting conducted by a sommelier. This unforgettable wine bar features a stunning interior highlighted with a Roman vaulted ceiling. If you are still hungry after the day, you can have dinner at our expense at one of several restaurants that we can recommend in town.

All meals with Italian wine along with wine tasting are included.

Thursday – Day 5 – Shopping In Foligno & Perugia

After a breakfast buffet at your hotel, we will visit two nearby towns that are unknown to most travelers. Each town has a large number of small shops which sell: cashmere; clothing; leather goods including shoes and purses; fine lace; artisan pasta; specialty foods; bakery goods; chocolates; fine art; ceramics; and more. An Italian shopping expert will accompany you so that you can visit stores and purchase goods as you wish.

When the shops close for lunch, we will drive to a lovingly restored Italian agriturismo for lunch. We will mingle and have a relaxing lunch featuring food and wine from their farm. After lunch we will resume shopping and finish our day in the early evening. After a long day of shopping, we will return to Spello to have drinks and heavy appetizers in a genuine 17th century Italian palazzo.

All meals with Italian wine and evening drinks with heavy appetizers are included.

Friday – Day 6 – Artisan Ceramic Factory & Shopping In Deruta

After breakfast, we will drive to world-famous Deruta, a town that has been celebrated for its hand painted ceramics since the early Middle Ages. The town itself is dramatically stunning. With over 200 boutique ceramic artisan workshops to visit, you’ll find some of the most beautiful hand-painted ceramics in Italy. These include a wide variety of irresistible traditional and modern ceramic tableware, plates, bowls, dishes, cups, tables, lamps and artistic ceramics. Many items can also be made to order and monogrammed specifically for you.

Our first stop will be a small artisan factory where we will explore how ceramics are made and painted including the differences between authentic, Italian hand-made ceramics and lower quality foreign “knock offs”. We will then visit the spectacular, local ceramic museum, which is located in a converted cloister of the Church of San Francesco. The museum features local ceramics dating back to the 14th century.

You will have plenty of time to visit and shop at the numerous shops while having lunch on your own, at our expense. We’ll return to Spello in mid-afternoon for private time and packing. For our farewell celebration, we’ll have an early private dinner at a 17th century storybook palazzo specially prepared by a favorite Italian chef.

All meals with Italian wine included.
